Our Garden
One of my interests, besides computers, is gardening. I am an avid gardener during the spring summer and fall. 10 years ago, we created a KOI Pond in our back yard. We stocked the pond with 10, 8 - 10 inch Japanese Koi about 3 weeks after finishing construction of the pond. They have survived 10 winters and have grown incredibly. They are now around 18 inches in length and VERY healthy. Here are some pictures of the gardens and pond.

Here is one of the gardens surrounding our home.

Here is an overview of the pond. The Pond is approximately 6 feet by 12 feet and is about 26 inches deep.
The pond contains many forms of life from snails, frogs, fish, snakes, lizards toads etc. We even had a very exciting day one day, when I discovered a HUGE, and I mean HUGE, snapping turtle in the pond. Needless to say, we had a VERY DIFFICULT time trying to get him out of there. After an hour or so of my wife and I trying this and that without success, of trying to get the snapping turtle out of the pond. My daughter said, why don't you just put the bucket in the pond and just scoot him in. Sure enough, worked on the first try. This was one BIG turtle. Probably close to 24" in diameter. OK, maybe 18" in diameter. We took him down to the closest lake and released him. Never a dull moment. It is very natural in appearance. It also has many different types of plants. Tropical plants, like Taro, Caladium, Canna lilies, Hardy Water Lilies, Tropical Water Lilies, Lizards Tail, plus many other varieties. Everything that has been or is put into the pond has a purpose. The goal is to maintain a natural ecological balance within the pond. There is 2 pumps, pumping 4,000 gallons per hour 24 hours per day. One pump pumps water through the biological filter and the rest to the waterfall, while the second pumps water up through the fountain at the far end of the pond. It is very pleasant to sit around the pond during the summer and watch the wildlife that it brings and to listen to the pleasant sounds of the waterfall and stream.
